Texans and Secession

Are these people serious?

And if so,  are these people stupid, crazy, or crazy stupid?

Having been raised in Houston, each time I see this crap on the news, a shudder runs through me. A shiver of embarrassment. A loss of pride. People up here have actually asked me if I think Texas will secede. Of course it won't! Apparently, the secession people fail to use any sort of logic whatsoever. Among many other things, Texas becoming its own country would turn it into an instant third world country. I'm not clear on the numbers, though I will be researching- but Texas land is somewhere around 40 % federal property. Including more military bases than any other state in the country. And NASA. And  A LOT of federally subsidized farmland. Do these people think that the federal government will just let Texas walk away with all of that, so to speak?

This whole thing pisses me off.

I understand not wanting a democrat in office after 8 years of republican power, and I even understand people completely disagreeing with an administration. Believe me. But we seem to be loosing our ability to have civil discussions about civil matters. This secession talk is shameful, and stupid. Its just like the death panel thing. Its nonsense. I can't believe that the richest country in the world is filled with people that are this poorly educated.

FINALLY!

Finally got a car of my own today. The title/registration passes into my hands tomorrow.

Things are finally looking up. Had to go down to the very, very bottom for that to happen, but that can actually be very refreshing.

Like when they make you into a soldier, by breaking you into little pieces and forcing you to become something better. Like burning sand to make glass.

The new Americorps program begins in a few weeks, and I'm really excited about it. I'm just about as motivated about this as I was about the Reserve. I'm actually getting my shit together. It took me a while, but its happening.

I'm writing again, exercising heavily again, spending more time with my family, and even hobby modeling again.

Its difficult to be positive, to not wait for the other shoe to drop, since that's my basic personality. I'm trying. I will succeed. I can't be stopped.

 Ok, flipping through channels tonight, caught the very ass end of Return of the Jedi on Spike TV. I really did not like the "Special Edition" versions of the original trilogy. Now I like them even less. After that faggy parade montage and the ewok dance, who is it now that stares at Luke and Leia approvingly? Obi-Wan (Alec Guinness), Yoda, and now, Anakin Skywalker, portrayed by non other than the WORST ACTOR ON THE PLANET, Haiden Christinson. WHAT THE FUCK?

Lucas is trying to ruin our childhood memories. Swear to god.
