Stream of conciousness...

Dean brought home my favorite girl scout cookies and I only ate two. Win. Tagalongs for those inquiring. Goal is to make the box last a week.

I went to the auto show last weekend. It was weird getting in and out of vehicles with complete strangers. Kind of fun though. When a little kid was in the drivers seat of a car I wanted to sit in, I stared them down, just a little. I like the Toyota Venza and the Acura TSX. But - I've talked myself into waiting another year until I buy. Maybe two. I like cars. I just don't like paying for them. Oh - and to commemorate Cory Haim's death, I went out and got my license to drive last week. I'm legal again. Win.

It was mother-fucking 60 degrees in Minnesota yesterday. BEAUTIFUL. My house that has two warm fishtanks and my plasma TV was rocking 80 degress. It felt like summer.

Speaking of fishtanks...Dean got super irritated on Saturday for some reason (probably me) and decided to take it out on his fish. Since he went towards more aggressive fish, the tank has sprouted algae like you wouldn't believe. Snails and crabs, also known as the "clean-up crew" get eaten by aggressive fish so the algae gets out of control (plus some other factors like lighting, water stuff I don't feel like explaining, blah, blah, blah). Either way, he sold our Porcupine Pufferfish and Picasso Trigger back to the store. Then he scrubbed all the algae away, and did a big water change. Then on Sunday we picked up a purple tang, a powder blue tang, and a big clean-up crew of hermit crabs and snails. Pics soon. Lucky for me, I bought him one of the tangs for our anniversary next month so that gift anxiety is all proactively managed.

I tried Battlefield Bad Company 2 last night for umm...10 minutes (campaign). I died and went back to CoD. I want to play MP BF soon...Need to get the clan together for that.

Bloggy...

Doodi's blog totally inspired me to write a blog of my own. I'm not sure I can live up...but here's an update on my life in case you're interested, which you're probably not. lol.

On the work front, my replacement starts Monday. That will be weird. I plan on sitting in the spare chair in my cubicle with a laser pointer to direct her work while I play on my iPhone. Just kidding. I also got a raise yesterday. Sort of odd given the circumstances, but I'll take it!

The lead I was working on for a new job is maybe going to work out. They didn't make an offer due to "timing" (I told them I wanted to stay and collect my severance and they needed someone immediately). But they said they're "very interested" in me for a second position that will be available near my end date. My boss also sent a good recommendation to his contacts at the company and they responded positively. We'll see. I also looked up some random company 1.5 miles from my house to find out they have a Sr. BA job open. And as luck would have it, one of my co-workers just happens to come from there. She's going to get me the inside scoop. It would be cool to be that close to work again. Networking FTW.

I've also been playing in the COD MML league. It sucks to be one of the worst players and know that I'll get traded a lot, but it's still fun. Everyone in the league has been great to play with. I absolutely encourage people to give the league a shot if they have a second round - especially if you've felt shy to join because of your skill level or something. Yes - most of the people playing are ridiculously good and they're competitive. But so far, nobody has been a dick to me or made me feel unwelcome. That's been a huge relief. And giant shout-out to Soup for all the effort he's putting into running this!

So is it LAN planning time yet? WTF!  

It's been awhile...

I've been a-lurkin around...Not so much posting. Work is starting to really slow down these days so I thought I'd post a blog with some random updates.

1. As of today, I am breaking the law going to work. Yep. A little more than a month ago I got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign and not having my proof of insurance in the car. The ticket was a ridiculous $300. I figured if I just let them butt-rape me by sending them the money, they'd leave me alone. I ignored the instructions about faxing my insurance information. Apparently, not good enough. My license is suspended for a month. And in case you're wondering - I do carry insurance. I just forgot to fax the proof in time (and I throw away those little cards all the time). I have driving fail problems.

2. The iPad is dumb.

3. I lasted 6 days on my New Year's resolution.

4. My official end date at work is 05/28. I'm trying to get it bumped sooner because I've got a pretty good job prospect that is starting to line up and I want my severance. I'm playing coy in terms of blogging about it until things are more solid. But I'm hoping in a couple weeks I'll have my transition all planned out.

5. I tried to "forefoot run" today. It's basically an alternative style of running where you lead with your body and land on your toes instead of your heels. It's supposed to be better for you and more inclined to how our bodies were designed to run - like barefoot running. We'll see how bad my calves hurt tomorrow.

6. I signed up for CoD MML. Who's running this business? Soup? When's it getting started? I haven't played shit for games in a while. Maybe this will get me on my box more...

7. We got a new fish for the 90 gallon. This shot is a little dark, but he's a "Lawnmower Blenny." He'll eat all the fuzzy green algae in the tank. Interesting looking fish and he sort of "hops" around the bottom of the tank. I SO hope the eel doesn't eat him. He's pretty close to being bite-sized. So far so good. We also got a cool star-fish, but I haven't uploaded pics yet.

New Year's Resolutions...

Ohhhhh Deeeaaarrr - (Like one of my favorite XBL friends would say). It's time to think about what my New Year's resolution will be. Here were the contenders in completely random order with no promises of originality.

 - Lose weight. Specifically 10 pounds before I start interviewing for my next gig. I'm nixing this because it's dumb. I should just do this anyway regardless of the New Year.

 - Get a new job. I've cut this one from the list because I sort of have to do it regardless. It would be a gimme.

 - Resolve to not resolve. Still an option. But the exercise of thinking about change and bettering yourself is still a worthwhile one.

 - Exercise more. How much more? I don't know. Nixing this for the same reason as 'lose weight'.

 - Take the bus more instead of driving and paying for parking. I've cut this because it might only apply for a few more months anyway.

- Save money. Lame. I should just do this anyway.

And the one resolution that has, so far, not been cut is: Complete a Project 365. A "Project 365" is where you take a photograph every single day of something. Some days are bound to be complete garbage. Other days, some good photos might be born. I might go with it...It will a challenge for sure, but fun (I think). We'll see. I might change my mind and say 'fuck it' to the whole resolution thing all together.
