God-shaped Hole

Everyone has a place in them that only God can fill. Many try to fill it with others things, but all that does is make you feel more empty afterwards. You then have to go beyond the last thrill to feel  good. It is just a temporary fix though. Each time you have to go father and farther to feel good. The only thing that will truly make you feel whole is being filled with the love of God.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was written by King Solomon who was known to be the wisest man ever. He also had all the riches anyone could want and participated in all pleasures known to man.  All he could say at the end of his life was it was all meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 2
The Futility of Pleasure
I said to myself, "Come now, let's give pleasure a try. Let's look for the `good things' in life." But I found that this, too, was meaningless. 2 "It is silly to be laughing all the time," I said. "What good does it do to seek only pleasure?" 3 After much thought, I decided to cheer myself with wine. While still seeking wisdom, I clutched at foolishness. In this way, I hoped to experience the only happiness most people find during their brief life in this world.
4 I also tried to find meaning by building huge homes for myself and by planting beautiful vineyards. 5 I made gardens and parks, filling them with all kinds of fruit trees. 6 I built reservoirs to collect the water to irrigate my many flourishing groves. 7 I bought slaves, both men and women, and others were born into my household. I also owned great herds and flocks, more than any of the kings who lived in Jerusalem before me. 8 I collected great sums of silver and gold, the treasure of many kings and provinces. I hired wonderful singers, both men and women, and had many beautiful concubines. I had everything a man could desire!
9 So I became greater than any of the kings who ruled in Jerusalem before me. And with it all, I remained clear-eyed so that I could evaluate all these things. 10 Anything I wanted, I took. I did not restrain myself from any joy. I even found great pleasure in hard work, an additional reward for all my labors. 11 But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless. It was like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.

Ecclesiastes 11
Advice for Old and Young
7 Light is sweet; it's wonderful to see the sun! 8 When people live to be very old, let them rejoice in every day of life. But let them also remember that the dark days will be many. Everything still to come is meaningless.
9 Young man, it's wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. 10 So banish grief and pain, but remember that youth, with a whole life before it, still faces the threat of meaninglessness.

Ecclesiastes 12
Concluding Thoughts
9 Because the Teacher was wise, he taught the people everything he knew. He collected proverbs and classified them. 10 Indeed, the Teacher taught the plain truth, and he did so in an interesting way.
11 A wise teacher's words spur students to action and emphasize important truths. The collected sayings of the wise are like guidance from a shepherd.
12 But, my child, be warned: There is no end of opinions ready to be expressed. Studying them can go on forever and become very exhausting!
13 Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

Lyrics from Audio Adrenaline's God-shaped Hole

All around the world people are trying.
Deserted souls cry to be filled.
Spirits left undone their hearts are hollow.
I can see, in their eyes, hollow lives.

And every heart, and every soul
and everybody's got a God-shaped hole.

You may have tried to fill that hole inside
with an empty hand you reached in vain.
Substitutes don't work, bandages only hurt.
The only thing that heals is the hand of God.

Nobody's meant to be left all alone.
Our lives are much too short
to have an empty soul.

Showing God's love

I don't want to be someone who says one thing but doesn't act on it. I want Christ's love to show through every word and action of mine.
I was trying to think how to show people on this site Christ's love so, I just want to put myself out there for anyone who needs prayer to PM me and I will pray for you.

Mark 12:28b-31 (NLT)"Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.
30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'
31 The second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'No other commandment is greater than these."

John 13:35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

1 Corinthians 13(NLT)
I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth but didn't love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn't love others, what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody. 3 If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;  but if I didn't love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. 6 It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
8 Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will all disappear. 9 Now we know only a little, and even the gift of prophecy reveals little! 10 But when the end comes, these special gifts will all disappear.
11 It's like this: When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.  All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God knows me now.
13 There are three things that will endure-faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.

My first blog

This is my first blog so I'm going to give you a little insight into who I am.

I am a Born again Christian who's life long goal is to be an example of Jesus Christ wherever I go and in all I do.

I've been a Christian since I was 5 but I truly rededicated my life to Christ when I turned 17. Since this time I have had the wonderful opportunity to witness to many and even lead a few to Christ. That mainly happened in my high school & college years. Now I'm a stay at home mom and besides to my children, whom I try to witness to on a regular basis, I don't seem to get the chance.
As I was in church today our pastor was talking about faith, hope, and love. It hit me that I need to show God's love more. I really feel that God wants me to put a positive blog on this site.   So here goes...

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that ANYONE who believes should not die but have everlasting life. 17 God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:16-17

There is none righteous no not one. Romans 3:10

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

If we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse from all sin. 1 John 1:9

If anyone has any questions about anything in this post feel free to PM me...even if we haven't played together or spoken.

I don't really care how many thumbs downs I receive.
