It's been a while...
I haven’t been around much this past year or so. Lurking with sporadic posting and sporadic gaming. 2009 was a blur. Got married in September, what a blast that was. Ceremony went well, as I told people when asked no one threw up, fell down, fainted, etc.
Party after was great, had people talking about it weeks later which was cool. Went to Maine for a few days after for a honeymoon, then right after we got back my parents had health problems flare up and that’s taken up a lot of time ever since.
Looking to improve on the sporadic gaming. Time was sparse on the tv, felt guilty taking away viewing time, and have taken care of that by changing out the video card on the pc. New card allows us to use my old tv as the pc monitor so now I have second setup to play on.
People in the real world keep asking how’s married life, and I’d say aside from the parental issues, it’s great. He’s great.
Currently blogging from my V-day present (netbook!) and looking forward to going to PAX East (tickets were my Christmas present). As I was telling him this weekend, I’m not the typical female I guess when it comes to presents
and yes I got flowers too.

Engagement
Funny, apparently I only blog once or twice a year in the Oct/Nov time frame.
Anyway, got engaged this weekend. Been talking about it for a while but everything went into motion pretty easily once we decided to go forward. Picked up the rings (engagement and wedding) Saturday, told our parents and siblings over the weekend, and have already found a place that was available and booked it. The big day is 9/19/09. What's great is almost everything was included. The room, dj, 5 course meal, centerpieces, and cake. Limo too but we didn't need it. No running around for me to find availability. One contract signed, all vendors signed up. They even recommended a jp. Not much left to plan.

RROD
I knew it was living on borrowed time. It had been getting louder and louder. With each new game I would wonder if this was it, would it finally die. Then tonight it froze when I got the dashboard. Turned it off. Go to turn it back on and pfft...RROD.
I will say this though...I'm very impressed that my launch unit made it almost 2 years without dying.

Airline Cattle Call
So I flew home on the redeye Thursday night and as I’m waiting to get on the plane I get to thinking (yes, dangerous I know). Whatever happened to loading the plane using rows (i.e. 5 rows at a time) than the cattle calls they do nowadays? Granted on my flight out they did it but on the way back it was almost a free for all. And I’ve found they do the mass boarding more often than not lately. Maybe it’s just the airline I’m using...although I must say the hot cookie, then later the hot banana bread they gave us were very good snacks.
Now as usual they called first class, all the frequent flier members that have attained the higher ranks that allow them to get on the plane as well as the folks that need help, that’s all good. Then they call rows 15 and higher. Now that’s basically the whole plane except for first class. Who thought this up? Thus begins what I think of as the cattle call as we all shuffled forward to board. You’re hoping in the back of your mind that there will be enough overhead space because some people bring on the biggest bags. Then while you’re trying to work your way to the back you’re continuously stopped because someone has reached their row and has to get settled. It just makes me think it would go much faster/smoother if they’d go back to loading from the back. I guess that’s just logical and as I usually say at work, logic need not apply.
I have seen some different methods of loading including sections on United and I think my favorite on Delta (I’m guessing it was a pilot program of sorts) was by seat type. First window, then middle, then aisle. It was sort of entertaining, and actually kind of worked.
That’s enough of my rambling. Thanks for reading/listening.
