HALO ART - WK #4 - BRUTE CHIEFTIAN!

Week 4 and its one of the bad guys! :-) I never thought much of the Brutes in H2, they seemed stupid and not very threatening at all. They sure seem upgraded in H3 from what we have seen. So in honor of their growing some .. ah...Brute Balls :-) I decided to take a shot at illustrating a Chieftain.

Also posted below is the original rough concept sketch and the finished pencils. I colored this piece, as well as all the previous posts, over the pencils. Most the time I would go over the pencils in black, digitally inking them first, then doing the color. Putting the color over the pencils saves time obviously and it makes the pieces a little looser which Im trying to introduce more of in my work.

As always comments and crits are encouraged and any suggestions for next week are welcome. :-) My work load is going to explode next week with a number of projects kicking off. So getting next weeks post up will be a challenge. I'm contacting a fellow 2o2p member that is a very talented artist to see if he will collaborate on next weeks piece in order to help make sure I dont miss a week. The Bat signal is up, hopefully the call will be answered. :-) By the way for those counting down, next weeks post of week 5 will mean only 7 more weeks till launch YEAH BABY THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT WILLIS!!!!!! the only piece of constructive criticism that I would give is that maybe there's too much purple (unless people are Prince fans ). I think the Chieftain could stand out from the BG a bit more, possibly by having different colored armor (or maybe it could be done by shading).
