HALO ART- WEEK #3 - SGT. JOHNSON

Week three and its a big post. Lots of stuff to share. :-).

I'm continuing with portraits of key figures in the Halo story. This week it's the one and only, Sgt Johnson! A true blue Marine Sgt. if there ever was one. What makes him such a cool character for me is his un-shakable resolve and get it done attitude. (plus he is pretty damn funny too - LOL ) So I have tried to capture him in mid chaos. The Spartan probably wouldn't be red, but at least I did give him one of the new full head visor helmets . :-) I did this piece in a more comic book style. As it developed it felt more and more like a single panel from a multi panel story. So in the spirit of the comic book tradition and for a little diversity to my posts, I have written a few captions to go with the image.

The Sgt.'s piece lent itself to a horizontal format, mainly because of the reference image i was working with. ( I have included it below.) Horizontal is not the best for posting in the Blogs because they are limited to a 499 pixel width. At that size the caption boxes are difficult to read, so I am providing an additional larger viewing option here.
And for those that like their illustrations without corny captions, here is a words free version.:-)

I have also posted below a couple sketches of things Im working on for upcoming weeks posts. Thought you might like seeing these doodles as they are evolving. I started coloring the Cortan Gravemind piece from last week. Thanks again to everyone that commented and posted about that piece. I appreciate it and all the feedback will make for a better final piece. Once its complete I'll post it up. Hopefully I'll be able to do so next week and have it in addition to next weeks new piece.
