Happy Anniversary to ME

As of today Shakes and I have been married 10 years.

We met August 29th, 1999, were engaged November 19th, 1999, and Married March 11, 2000. (yeah, five months from meeting to married) He was a ripe old age of 22 and I was 19 lol  I know that more than one person thought we were clueless and making a horrible decision. Ten years, nine moves, four kids, and many adventures later- We have wanted to beat each others heads in a few times, but he is still my Best Friend, and if I could choose anyone to spend time with, it would be him.

Party at Tiger Woods

I assume you all remember last Thursday night was the BCS championship football game. Texas Vs Alabama. Nike was holding a party at the Tiger woods center to celebrate. Shakes had asked a few days before if it would be ok if he went (it was from 4-9) and after making a lot of really mature jokes about him partying and Tiger Woods- I told him that I didn’t mind. Party day came and Shakes calls me up and tells me that families are invited to. So I scrambled and got the kids presentable and we headed to the Tiger Woods Center on campus. (Shakes is a production artist for Nike and works at the World Headquarters)

This is a really cool “Events Center”. We didn't get to see the main Auditorium, but Kyle says its full of super comfy black seats. We were on the other side in the convention area. It was fully catered with steak/salmon/chicken as the entree  and football shaped sugar cookies and brownies for dessert. They had Two separate rooms going on with a movie theater size screen at the end of each showing the game.  There was kind of an “adult” room with an open bar, foosball tables, and some pool tables. Then a “family” room with  4 PS3s set up on big screen tvs with some football game playing, a few carnival type basketball/football games, and a shuffleboard table.  They raffled off some really cool prizes (which we didnt win. lol) They had all of the top Nike BCS school uniforms out on display. The kids all got a kick of seeing all the official uniforms up close.We picked Texas as our team to cheer for, so sadly we didnt get to cheer for much (we left when the score was still like 6 to 26) but I guess that is what you get when you pick your team because you like their uniforms, and because you happen to know someone in texas and dont know anyone in alabama.  It was a fun evening and Im sure that the kids had a blast. So much better than the chicken pot pie and netflix we would have had if we stayed at home.
I do have to say that  “Tiger Woods” really knows how to throw a “party” lol.

1 vs 100 top ten

I recently discovered 1 vs 100 and Im totally addicted. I dont do super well, but I have fun (normally Im in the 30k point range on extended play.) Last night was the kids movie catagory. I got all of them but the last four right. And right before I I went on my losing streak I was actually in the top ten for points. I do have to say Im pretty darn pleased with myself. Im also surprised that I didnt wake up all my kids with my screaming when I got those last four questions wrong. lol

Family Pictures

The last time we had family pictures was 4 years ago. Needless to say, it was time for new ones.  Shakes has a sister who has a SLR and who thinks she is a photographer, so we had her snap some of us while we were in UT for thanksgiving. I finished the post processing of them this weekend and Im quite pleased if I do say so myself.

Video Games Live

Shakes and I have been trying harder to go on more REAL dates. Sure going to target without the kids is fun, but not very romantic. So in September I took him on a date to go put put golfing at this cool little black light place in DT Portland. Not anything fancy, but a real “dating each other” date. We had a great time. I told him his job was to find a “musical” date for us the next month. (He is always commenting about how there are so many bands that play in Portland and we never ever go to concerts and what a shame it is)
He had something lined up for October, but it ended up conflicting with the church Halloween party we both weren't feeling “date like” by that evening. So he still owed me a date. He was super sneaky and found out VGL was going to be in Portland in November. So he planned a double date with a friend from work (mancothegreat if anyone from 2o2pwest still remembers that name) who we have been meaning to double with.  He tried really hard to keep it a surprise for me ( I LOVE surprises) but Im too darn smart and figured it out lol.
For those who dont know, VGL  is a program that has an orchestra that plays common video game themes. So everything from Mario to Metroid to World of Warcraft. They played a bunch of WoW and FF music at ours.
I Had an amazing time and Im very impressed that he planned it all himself. So Shakes' assigned date gets two thumbs up lol.

If VGL is ever in your neck of the woods I highly reccomend it. Even if your S/O isnt a gamer, the music is performed by a local orchrista (ours was the portland symphony orchestra) and is entertaining to listen to. Ive never played WoW or FF and I still was able to really enjoy those parts.
