Last Day of School

Today is the last day of regular classes.  I've really only got two classes to "teach" today.  My grade 11/12 guitar class we are watching School of Rock.  The students had their performance in front of the whole school last week, and it was awesome, the movie is kind of their reward for that.  Most of the kids had never touched a guitar before February, and they formed 4 groups, played AND SANG (that was a surprise).  The songs were Boston by Augustana, Yellow by Coldplay, In the Middle by Theory of a Deadman, and some hippie song from the Juno soundtrack.  It was so good.  Almost makes me feel like I may have accomplished something in that class.  My other class today has a test.  That's right, a test on the last day, I'm an ass.  They deserve it.

We're having our garage sale this weekend, trying to unload a bunch of our shit before the big move.  Hopefully we can get rid of most of it, I'm not one of those guys that tries to make money at a garage sale, I need to get rid of this stuff, isn't that the point of a garage sale?  27" TV...works fine $10, surround sound system...works fine $20, everything else, $1.  Just take the shit of my hands...

Also, I heard today that Matt Cooke will be bringing the Cup to Stirling, Ont this summer.  So long as it's after July 11th, we'll have moved there.  SWEEET!!!

Summer Concerts

This summer I can finally cross two more bands off of my "must see" list.  My wife and I have have floor seats (well not seats really, just general admission) to Green Day.  Yes we get to go and fight high school girls in a mosh pit.  Should be fun.  This morning I got some decent seats to see Blink 182 in Toronto in August.  This time we have actual seats.  Should be a great show.  I think Fallout Boy is opening.  I would like to add No Doubt and possibly Springsteen this summer as well, but it's doubtful, given the cost of tickets for some of these shows (looking at you Springsteen).

Take the Good with the Bad

The Good:

I won the finale of our poker league on Friday night.  Took home enough to cover almost half of the cost to rent a trailer for the big cross-country move.  Sweet.

The Bad:

The Penguins got absolutely destroyed by the Red Wings on Saturday night, gonna need a better effort on Tuesday to force a game 7.
