Prayer for the Sick

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake. Amen.

Saint Augustine

You Reap What You Sow

These days... I have come to better understand those words. it has become my mantra, motto, and words I live by.

I never did like, "Everything happens for a reason"

Scrupulous

It's a word my father used to describe the lawyer (an estate attorney) that saw him in the hospital the other day. I can tell he (my father) was annoyed with the formality of having to hear him go through and painfully summarize each document. I was even asked to leave the room as the conversation began. I had no problem with it... attorney/client confidentiality, right?

Below is the Merriam-Webster Online definition of the word. I always thought the word had a negative connotation to it, and I know my father meant it in a negative way!

Main Entry: scru·;pu·;lous
Pronunciation: 'skrü-pyə-ləs
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin scrupulosus, from scrupulus
Date: 15th century

1 : having moral integrity : acting in strict regard for what is considered right or proper
2 : punctiliously exact : painstaking <working with scrupulous care>

Question...

"What is it that causes a man to give up hope and his faith to splinter?"

I'm not really looking for an answer... just an observation. This thought ran through my head as I was visiting my father in the hospital. A hospital is not on my top ten list of favorite places to be in. There are so many that are sick and in suffering.
