Chopsticks

Thanks to a prank we played on a coworker, I am now obsessed with chopsticks.  I had to learn to eat with them to pull the prank off and now I can't get enough of them.  I am so obsessed, I think I am going to start a collection of chopsticks.  Yes, probably a little wierd but I am telling you, I love chopsticks.

Soccer

I have never been a big fan of soccer. Like most of you, I didn't grow up playing soccer. I grew up playing football, basketball and my personal favorite, baseball. Today in my Sports and Entertainment class I teach, I mentioned how soccer was the number one sport in the world. Most of my students are like me and could care less about the sport. After class, one of my new students came up to me and wanted to talk soccer. He said what American's problem is, is that we didn't grow up playing soccer. This student is from Mexico. He is obsessed with soccer. Never knew that about him.  Really didn't know much at all about him.  So we talked and I saw how much soccer meant to him. It was neat listening to this kid who hadn't said boo yet in class, open up and talk. What is the point of this? Not sure. I do know that I made a connection with one of my students even if it is in a different sort of way. I also found out that I am going to learn a little bit more about a sport I never had an interest in before. Maybe I helped him come out of his shell a little today. Maybe he helped me learn a few things today.

Cable vs Satellite

I currently have basic cable through Comcast.  I pay $83 a month for this service.  I am wanting to go to satellite but I am having trouble figuring out a cost.  I have my phone and internet through Embarq/CenturyLink.  I can get Dish Network through them but I can't find a channel lineup and the website is confusing on pricing.  I can also get Direct.  Haven't researched them yet.  In a month or two, we are going to buy a big screen for the basement and move the 32" lcd upstairs for my wife so hd is going to be a requirement.  Dvr is also a requirement.  I will have a total of 5 televisions hooked up.  Only two will be hd if that makes a difference.  Can you hook up 5 tvs to satellite?  We don't need a ton of channels.  No extra movie channels.  Just the basics.  Can anybody chime in with which satellite company is the best or should I just stay with my cable company? Any horror stories to share?  Costs you want to share?  Any general statements?
