E74. HOORAY!

So last night I turned on the Elite to jump into some Borderlands with my buddy Chainer. E74 error & 1 flashing red light.....shit.

turned it off....let it sit for about 10 minutes...turned it back on. Same......shit shit...

logged into xbox.com, registered the console and the standard warranty has run out. shit shit shit.

then noticed that when I put in the console repair request, it didn't ask for my credit card info. I had to call them to make absolutely sure the page didnt just load wrong or something...but the guy on the phone said that the repair will be free because of the type of error....so it had the extended warranty.

Thankfully.

This will be Xbox #2. I know a lot of peeps (specially on 2old2play) have had more that 5 consoles go tits up on them.

All I've gotta say is that Microsoft is damn lucky they have the games I wanna play.

a little project.

Normally I dont like to post this kind of thing. but I figured what the hell.

I've put together a small community entertainment blog. there are a few contributors, but we'll mainly post about movies, games, music and whatever else happens to be tickling our fancy at the time.

I'm not trying to take anything away from 2old2play. I love this site too much. This is just something fun I wanted to do for myself and some friends of mine.

Play N Trade FTW

Julia and I made a trip to North Augusta (about 20 or so miles from us in Aiken) today to hit up the Play N Trade that opened up a few weeks ago. Sadly they were closed for New Years Day. But the owner, staying in to take care of some last minute year-end paperwork, was kind enough to let us in and take a look around. He also offered to give us a good deal since its New Years and we drove a bit to get to his store. Would never happen at GameStop.

The newer pickings were kind of slim due to it being a new Play N Trade.....but they still had some good titles for decent prices, and some cool older titles stores dont carry anymore.

Our bounty included:
Super Paper Mario used (Wii) - $34.99
Lips w/Microphone used (X360) - $44.99
Dead Space used (X360) - originally $14.99, but given to us for free as a (buy 2 get 1 free incentive)
Super Mario Allstars used (SNES) - originally $24.99, he knocked $10 off making it $14.99.

Now another bonus. There had been a Play N Trade closer to us that we visited and did some trade-ins with. But they shut down...so we figured since all the stores are locally owned and not huge yet....they wouldn't have our account info. Sure enough. They did. So drop another $13 in store credit and All-Stars is practically free.

And to top it all off. All of the discs were in pristine, practically new condition and had their manuals. And the SNES cartridge had no marker smudges or label goop on it. Almost fresh from the box.

So all in all a great visit to a store that was supposed to be closed.

We finished our trip to North Augusta with a visit to our favorite little chinese restaraunt, Ming-Yat.

Great way to start off the New Year. Good games, good company and good food.

P.S. They had a copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES and the grey NES zelda cartridges. I may have to make another trip back soon and snag those for my collection. If they aren't ridiculous.

Getting something off my chest...

Over the past few months I've been playing a lot less competitive multiplayer and a lot more coop games. Resident Evil 5 mostly, but I recently slapped in Borderlands and have been loving that.

After leaving my main clan the Marauders, I guess my want to game with large groups has been somewhat stifled. I much prefer to work together with 2-3 other friends towards a single goal than be in a room with 8+ people.

I've tried playing some halo with the good people in 2old2playhalo. Gears 2 hasn't touched my 360 since October. And everyone knows how big of a hard-on I had for Gears. But I'm just not as interested in MP as I was before October.

I've let what some ex-clannies said to me hit a lot harder than what I should. And I haven't let that go yet. And looking back I should have just banned them and got back to running things how I thought. But no....I decided to just say fuck it and walk away. Now I barely game with anyone in that group...even though I still consider many of them friends.

I let a couple of assholes ruin something really good for me. I guess thats what bothers me most. I had the ability to tell them to fuck off, ban them and go on about my merry. But I didn't. Because I think in doing that, it would have confirmed what they thought about me....that I was on some secret mission to ruin things and ban people because they didn't like me, when all I wanted to do was expand the focus of the clan and make things better and more fun for everyone involved.

So after all these events...I've learned a valuable lesson. Clans aren't family. And shouldn't be treated as such. At most...good friends. When you start caring too much about stepping on toes than you do on getting something important done, its time to shift your mindset. I did I think, just now looking at it, it seems it was the wrong direction. Now I am in 3 clans that I barely game with. (though I do appreciate them letting me in and gaming with them when I do game). And all the things I spent a year working towards, building up a great clan, is now gone. All because of what 2 assholes said to me. If I could rewind time to a few months ago and do it over, I would....but a whole lot different. There'd be 2 or 3 more people hatin. But I'd still have my clan.

This'll be the last time I mention anything that happened. I just really needed to post this and get some things off my chest. I've been holding it in for a couple of weeks now and needed to get it out.

I still give a shit about my friends. And I hope I get to game with them all again at some point. But right now I've got some baggage to let go of and some things I need to get over.

That'd make a great New Years resolution I guess.

1.) Take better care of myself
2.) Get over dumb bullshit
3.) Play more games

I think Im gonna sell my Gears figures...

I started collecting the Gears figures when NECA first started releasing them. But sadly my area only got a couple here and there....usually a lot of the same 2 figures. And ordering them online can get pricey. So needless to say I'm far behind on the collecting list and don't think I'll ever catch up.

So Im staring at my uncompleted COG team and my 3 locust figures and wonder.....will I ever get the rest? Sadly no. As much as I love Gears, there are other figures I'd rather spend the money on. Like some of the older collector Optimus Prime Gen 1 stuff I've been looking for.....or some of the rare Boba Fett's I don't have. Or some nice resin statues.

Long story short....I think I'm gonna sell the Gears figures off. All of them are sealed and near-mint. They've been hanging on my wall since I've gotten them. I'm just not sure what would be a fair price for some of them.

      Locust Drone
      Locust Sniper
      Headshot Locust Drone (exploding head) w/ COG tags

Series 2-
      COG Soldier (not a Carmine) w/sniper rifle & lancer
       Anthony Carmine (SDCC 2008 Exclusive)

The Carmine and Headshot Locust are a little rare from what I understand. So I'll of course be asking a little bit more for those than retail. But I'm not looking to make a mint off of these. More or less to just get rid of and help fund my Optimus Prime collection.

If anyone is even remotely interested in taking the whole lot off my hands, PM me and we can work something out.
