Super shitty weather coming

It's going to be a lovely day in Wisconsin on Tuesday. The National Weather Service is predicting thunderstorms, floods, gales, freezing rain, and then blizzard conditions. The day will start in the mid 40's with thunderstorms and high winds. The temperature is supposed to drop throughout the day until it gets to -5 in Milwaukee and -15 in other parts of the state. Windchills are expected to be in the -40's.

This should suck quite a bit...

Democracy's Downside

I was out on CNN.com earlier today and saw this quote: "Analysts say black women never have held such power in determining the Democratic nominee for president. Black women are expected to make up more than a third of all Democratic voters in South Carolina's primary in five days. These women face a unique dilemma: Should they vote their race, or should they vote their gender?"

Is that really how we should chose our candidate? By his/her race or gender? I thought it was supposed to be based on whether he/she shares your ideology. Do white male democrats have the challenge of deciding whether to vote for Obama because he's a guy or for Clinton because she's white? FFS people, we're talking about who is going to run our country. I hope we can give this a little more thought than what's the color of their skin and do they pee standing up or sitting down.

Little pet peeve

One thing that really pisses me off is a demo that you just can't exit from. You know what I'm talking about -- you hit the start button and press "quit game" from the menu, then it either makes you sit through a movie or half a dozen ad screens that list all of the game's features. And you can't skip through any of them. Eventually, you just give up and hit the guide button and press Y to return to the dashboard.

It makes it all the worse when the demo sucks in the first place. I'm talking to you Turok.

One of my favorite moments

I love it when I wake up in the middle of the night and wonder how long it will be until I have to get up in the morning, then I roll over and look at the alarm clock and see that it's only a little after midnight. Nothing like finding out that you still have another 6 hours of sleep coming up.

Another one bites the dust

It would appear that my 360 has crapped out again. This is my third one. Over the course of 30 minutes it:

Locked up on Rockband
Locked up in Assassin's Creed
Locked up on reboot with the 360 logo and it made a single beep
Locked up while loading AC
Gave me an unreadable disc error on AC
Locked up in the menu of AC
Locked up on reboot with a single beep
Locked up loading NFS: Most Wanted
Locked up on reboot with a single beep

I'm debating what to do. Definitely, I'll send it in for repair -- but do I buy and Arcade 360 as a replacement and then once the refurb comes back, put that in the basement? Do I get an Elite for the bigger hard drive? With the amount of action my family has been putting into Rock Band, I can't really see myself going without a 360 for a month while Microsoft hooks me up with a refurb.
