Stupid number 2.

So I don't want to write a long detailed whine fest blog. So here are the basics.

I own 2 360s. Both of them broke last week.

I own 2 vehicles. One broke down last week and one today. So currently neither are running.

I just spent the holiday re-roofing my house so all our assets were poured out for that job.  It took 2x longer than it should have to finish that job.

In 2 weeks I have to leave my 20 month old daughter for 2 weeks while my wife and I are in Africa.

Life is difficult.

I hate the number 2.

The end.

Xbox gaming time.

So every gamer has these times where RL takes back over. Right now is one of those times for me.  Without anything being said by the wife or any external pressures the other night I moved my 360 from my gaming room to my bedroom.  Which only means one thing, it is now a media center and not a gaming console.  I still enjoy playing halo, but in the next three months of my life I just don't see any room to play much, or at all.

August will be filled by getting ready for the school year and taking some vacation.  Once I get started on Masters I am not sure if that will totally kill my desire/time to play or if it will force me to play some to keep my mind balanced.  Either way between a week and a half of vacation then a work trip I see August as already gone.  Then comes the big thing.

My wife and I are going to go on a trip to Mali Africa for two weeks at the beginning  of October.  We will be serving at a women and children's hospital there and Mali has the highest death rate in all of the world for women and children during childbirth. So there is a lot of need in Mali.  Often families will have to choose to let an infant die, because in order to pay the US $10 for medical care they would have to watch their other children die of starvation.  Our heart is really broken for Mali and we consider this a vision trip for us because depending on how the trip goes we may end up moving there for good.  So a lot of my time in September is going to be eaten by preparing for that trip. Then once we get back from Mali we will be celebrating our five year anniversary and spending every waking minute with our Daughter who will have been with Grandma for two weeks.  Here are a few recent shots. Yes she can rock climb all by herself and yes she can solve the rubiks cube.  Well, one of those are true.

Ella Climbing

So basically I already see August, September, and October as gone.  You all know how November and December are those two months will be gone in an instant.  Then that brings me to January and February which signifies a huge work load for me, thats just how the beginning of the year goes for me.  So basically I feel like right now I won't have a chance to breath until March.

It's one of those things where I am not complaining or view any of this busyness as negative, but I just am seeing how far and long I have to swim.  Now I see the distance and I am going to have to hold my breath and dive into it. I am sure I will still be around the site quite a bit, but I just know it is going to impact my gaming.  So anyway I have vented and now you know.  If any of you are interested in helping support or pray for our trip to Mali PM me your address and I will send you the info letter.

Internet control

Hey Everybody,

Just found an awesome new tool (new to me) to help protect where on the internet people in my house can go.  OpenDNS.com

It is free and works like an external internet filter.  You can set what it does and doesn't block by category or by website. It also can keep track of what websites are visited when.  If you have kids in the house I highly recommend getting this set up.  Because this way it doesn't matter what computer they use and it isn't software that you can shut off.

The site has router specific tutorials to get it all set up, so you don't have to be a techy to get it going.

I am hoping it doesn't have negative consequences on my xbl play, but initial speed tests show no difference.

Best of all it is free.

Avatar wars, so much fun.

So I picked a fight with my good friend DKhodz, because my origial Avatar gave him the creeps. So I added his face into it, which was my last blog before this one.

He responded with a hilarous motion gif of me from a LAN a few years ago when I had the "cajones" hooked from my belt.  At the Indy Lan whoever dominated the last game got to wear the cajones (two pink tennis balls connected by pink shoe laces)  and they spent the good part of the day with me ofcourse.    So we capped a few funny pics of me with the cajones on and ofcourse they surfaced in his avatar which was hilarous.  But I felt his avatar was incomplete.  To really demonstrate what I was doing, I felt he needed to be part of the picture too.

Improved DK avatar

DK, my avatar for you.

You didn't like my avatar, so I changed it. I hope you like it better now.

If it doesn't look different wait till the end.
