Annnnny Day now

Yeah any day now her water should be breaking.  I'm getting soooo anxious it's not even funny.  Tonight we're headed to my buddies house who's daughter is almost a month old now. I've never seen her in person.  I guess being a father seperates you from your social network for about a solid month. So my daughter can come out and meet us at any time now.  *tap tap tap*

Fall has hit us here with a vengeance. We didn't really have much of a summer and now it's already leaf raking time as half the leaves are gone from the tree out front of our house.  In a few weeks it'll be time to take a drive down to the niagara valley to check out the fall colors.  I love this time of year. Apples, pumpkins costumes and candy.  Ugh I have too much work to do to keep blogging this.  ciao for now.

F5

Yeah its a refresh.  I decided to finally dress up my blog page a bit.  change my avatar for the first time since joining 2old2play and post a rare blog. I also updated my profile that I haven't done in a few years.  It was nice to pretend to be 28 still for a few minutes before I had to change my age entry.

These days I guess people are more on edge than before, so I won't comment on some of the other blog drama going on that may be a bit more fascinating than my bits and pieces.  This afternoon I get to see my daughter for the last time.  Well the last time in the womb.  last trimester ultrasound today at 4.  Excited is an understatement.  I love anything to do with that little bundle of joy. Last night she was dancing on my hand it felt like. 

Toronto finally got some heat this week.  that's to say that we haven't had much of a summer.  While some of ya'll are melting in this years weather we've been sitting around 75 the whole time with rain each weekend to top it all off.  Tonight is also our last pre-natal class., (baby practice) as I call it.  Since my last blog I did indeed get a laptop computer.  I ended up with an Acer 5516.  Not exactly a powerhouse, but it has a number pad on the keyboard, but not one that goes on the letter keys like my lenovo stinkpad.  It also seems to run MTGO just fine and I can program and compile in visual studio just fine, and if I need more juice I'll rdp to my desktop in the office. 

We've also begun testing driving cars, as we both have 2door coupes.  Obviously it would be insane to at least not get a 4 door before the baby arrives.  Shortly after we sort that out its time to get house hunting.  So many tasks this year.   More later.

Sick in the head

Both my wife and I are sick.  What that means for me?  Too zonked to play vidja games.  Last night I put on Diary of the Dead.  I hadn't ever seen it.  I wasn't missing much.  I think Romero has done too much drugs or alcohol or something.  He lost his touch in this one.  I need to go pick up Dawn of the Dead.  That one, even the remake are really good. 

It's also time for me to buy a laptop.  I had been so fortunate to be able to use my work notebook for some gaming over the past 5 years.  But alas they've put in new security measures to make it useless for nigh everything but work related stuff.  Since I finally got paid for some contracting I did over the winter I was given the OK for a laptop purchase.  Now it's just finding the right one for the right price.

I'm jealous of those of you going to the Chi LAN.  sounds like a rockin good time.  I haven't really played online with any of you over the last few years.  I kinda miss the halo2 days where I used to smoke half a pack of cigarettes just sitting in front of my first HDTV playing big team battles with the OMM.  I never did get into any other shooters after that one.  Halo3 was cool but I haven't had any experience with it online. Except once.  And that was with a bunch of whiners that I work with that kept complaining about how crappy they all thought it was compared to R6 and GRAW and those types.

I think I did well

A while back I managed to score Toronto Maple Leafs tickets for last nights (valentines day) game.   Don't worry I checked with my wife before buying them.  However, this put me in a dilemma of what do I do to make it a good valentines day for her as well?  This might seem lame, but I went and ordered some roses red and white to her workplace.  I've never sent her flowers to work before.  I never really wanted to embarass her like that.  But you know what?  She secretly really wanted to be embarassed with flowers on v-day.  I also left work early (3) and went to whole foods to pick her up some of her gluten-free and milk-free stuff.  We hadn't been down to there in a while, and it's the only place she can get some of her staples like butter and fake sour cream and such.  I also picked up some rediculously expensive filet mignons, raced back to the house and started up dinner.  She was a little unawares of all this.  She thought she would have to drive downtown to my work and heat up some leftover spaghetti that we have in the freezer for our dinner.  So some steak, and asparagus and some baked potato (now with her butter and sour cream) and she loved it.  We went to the game together in one car and we bought her a pink Leafs jersey to go with her pink Stars jersey.  I got what I wanted, and I think she got what she wanted.  Some proper attention and devotion on the hallmark holiday.

It's not a "good" cinema technique.  Why do directors insist on using it? 

Example: Cloverfield.

The trailer makes me decide to not see the movie.  If it was filmed with a steadier camera shot, then I would have.
