Robert Bowling at MW2 Tourny

Went to the MW2 tourny in San Francisco tonight... it was awesome! I had a chance to talk directly to Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward. Let him know that I personally appreciate all they do to keep the game patched up. He had this to say:

"You have to remember that we are playing the game everyday too and are just as frustrated with the cheating we see. So we are motivated to fix the game for our benefit as well."

When asked if he thought that the game would ever be done with patching he said:

"There are probably a certain percentage of people here tonight that are dedicated to spending their time finding ways to cheat at this game and as long as they do, we'll keep patching it."

Better Late than Never (spoiler alert)

I waited in line on that cold dark night of November 9th at the local Gamestop. 50 plus people ahead of me... bought the game at the stroke of midnight... sped home and played multiplayer all night.

It's now the end of February, and last night I FINALLY finished the single player campaign of Modern Warfare 2. Damn that bastard Sherpard! Loved throw-knifing him in the eyeball!

What an awesome game!

Ok. Back to multiplayer (including spec ops).

A second look

Ok.  So now that I've come off of my CODMW2 fanboy phase, I'm giving BFBC2 a second look.  I was able to peel myselft away for COD to try Borderlands and I absolutely love it, so I thought, ok, give BF a fair shot.  Although the demo is very limited, I have to say that I'm going to buy it and play through single and multiplayer.  I was actually mistaken about some of the controls and, yes, some of the kits have guns with a lot of recoil, but others don't.  I was watching videos of MAG and having some PS3 envy (I don't own a PS3) and that game looks kind of cool.  I aways wanted to play Killzone2 and can't, mainly because the different classes and more stategic gameplay.  So the BF is the closest thing to those and I think it will be fun.

So I'm puting out a call to arms in the forums for piggy's to buy the game and get good at it.  My understanding is that it REALLY requires squad teamwork to be good.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 First Impressions

So in light of Dice's BFBC2 coming in March, I broke down and bought (again) a used copy of the first game and played multiplayer for about 2 hours.  I have been (ok here comes the heresy) been getting a bit tired of playing MW2, so was looking for something else.  I remember now why I don't play it.  It's much too long of a commitment to play an entire match of Gold Rush or any other gametype for that matter.  Problem is I try to play the game COD style and it doesn't work out that way.

Today I was home with my son who is sick, I downloaded the Xbox DEMO and played online for a bit.  It is definately better than the first game, and the controls (you can tell) have gotten a lot closer to the tactical layout of COD, this is actually a blessing and a curse.  I don't know if others have this problem, but I can't be good at more that 2 FPS's at once.  It started when I played COD4 and Halo 3 at the same time.  I can't tell you how many times after playing COD4 and switcing to Halo3, that while playing H3 and I wanted to reload my weapon (right shoulder) I hit X instead (COD4's reload) and tossed a shield drain in front of me on the ground.  Or vice versa, after playing H3 and switching to COD4, I would go to reload using right bumber and instead, toss a grenade.  BFBC2 uses left stick click to run, X to reload, right trigger for aim down site, Y for weapon changes etc, much like COD.  But right bumber is knife, and you have to toggle to a grenade to throw it.  Weapons had larger recoil and (although the graphics were better) there is a lot of tearing on screen.

So between L4D, half life, TF2, Halo, COD, BFBC, UT, you name it... it was just too much for the muscle memory in my hands to deal with.  That's why I stick with playing COD.

Which reminds me, I've found myself wanting to play W@W a lot more, so if anyone wants to play send me an invite.  Been mixing it up a lot with COD4 (which I can't believe how much more fun that game is than MW2) and COD5 lately.

Enough rants...

Thoughts on any of this?

Prestige! nope

I haven't been blogging or even on Xbox live recently. Holidays were busy so a lot of the PCPers might think I jumped ship and went over to the PS3 (which I know many porkers play too), but no. A lot of people got PS3's over the holidays and may have been playing that but I really like the 360.  Every time I try to play I find myself being a dad, which is way more rewarding than playing video games. At the same time, I find myself a bit burned out on COD. What? Well my name is HeresC after all, and that sounds like a big one. I'm starting to play again.  It's funny because when I play I'm running into a lot christmas kids and it's classic how bad they are.  Posting higher scores than normal since the 25th.

I've not been able to play as much as others and I'm approaching 70 and ready to decide about whether or not to pretige, but I'm not going to for a long time. I want to work on my weapon challenges.  Others might see this as weak but I pretiged immediately on COD4 and W@W.
