New Sketch - Captain America

Hey everyone Happy July 4th!!!! And to celebrate I have done a quick Red, White & Blue Avenger rendered in grey! The idea for the pose and the shading came from outstanding posters for the upcoming Punisher movie that have popped up on line. If you haven't seen them you should check em out they are great photographic interpretations of the Tim Bradstreet cover stylings for the comic. They are awesome and got me inspired.

Nick Fury Returns!!!

I think Marvel has done a great job of bring back Nick Fury with the Skrull invasion storyline. Its made it clear how pivotal a character he is in that universe. Maybe not the kind of character to carry his own book but Nick Fury and shield have touched almost ever hero and every Marvel book at one time or another. I for one have missed his being around and am pumped to see him back.

New Statue of Xenosaga!!

Got an amazing new PVC statue for Fathers Day and had to share. Its based on a character from the video game Xenosaga. I tell ya the detail and the quality of the stuff coming out of japan is just un matched. Im loving this girl and you will too. Check her out.

Bat Sketches for week of 6/16/08

A couple new sketches to post up. But first, I gave props last week to another 2o2p artist blog, Wilderz. I hope you all had a chance to check out his stuff. Here is another very talented 2o2p member, Twisted So after you check out my new sketches today give this brother some joy and hit his blog up.

This weeks sketches are of Wolverine and PowerGirl. One Marvel character for the Marvel Zombies ( you guys know who you are ) one DC character for the DC lovers. One dude for the ladies and one lady for the dudes. Wolverine is drawn in his new Xforce costume. Kinda hard to tell without some color. I did this for my buddy LB who turned me on to the Comic Book Data Base site. A very cool place to organize and inventory your comic collection. Thanks dude Power Girl is not one of my favorite ladies in comics but she sure looks good. I tried to do her in an Adam Hughes kinda style. I love me some Hughes and some big chested lady heroes. I also threw down some grey wash to add some "shape" not that she needed anymore.

Lastly I dont know if everyone is aware but we have a great Comics Forum here at 2o2p. It doesn't get frequented nearly enough so if you dig comics stop in and put your two cents in.

Another new sketch

Another new sketch for this week. Its a female version of the Silver Surfer. I have always wanted to do a SS piece and will someday soon. Im not all that happy with this sketch. I was working with a reference pic of a girl surfing that seemed to have allot more energy and interest in the image. Either I was wrong or I have failed to capture it with my pencil. But its a bit flat. Ill try to do another that is more extreme and exciting.

Im also going to make A comic book recommendation today. Im not big on religion, but I have to admit that allot of its imagery and stories make for great comic book material. I recently read the 4 trade paperback collections of a book called Strange Girl. it's about a girl that doesn't get chosen during the rapture and stays behind on the earth as it becomes run by demons. Its very, very good. The art is a bit expressionistic and different. The story moves along fast and has lots of good twists, humor and characters you grow to care about. I highly recommend it.
