Re-Organizing My Office

So I started re-organizing my office at work and decided to place some of my gaming figures I had laying around at home (mostly packed away) on my cradenza, just for the hell of it.  My office is open to the public, and I have foot traffic all day coming in and out.  I think everybody and their brother has coming in commenting about each game, with the most comments split between The Big Daddy and The Vault Tec Bobble Head.  (No room for my night vision goggles, plus when I did have them there the girls in my office kept running around the office in them).

So, now that I'm finishing up Mass Effect 2, when I get home from Parent / Teacher conference tonight, I am getting geared up for Bioshock 2.  I'm really looking forward getting back into Rapture.  I know it's available at Midnight tonight, but I just feel so damn old out there with Timmy!!!!  I know there are some really big Bioshock fans out there.  I did find Big Daddy Dolls like the Little Sister carries out on Ebay today, while I was waiting to bid on a Psycho Bunny tie by Robert Godley, that I really wanted.  These were pretty cool though.

Back to Ghetto

Oh what a delightfull weekend. Gamestop: Traded in PSP and 2 games and recieved a $90.00 credit so I picked up Mass Effect 2 and still have $39.00 on the EDGE card. Yesterday playing some MW2 my $100.00 Turtle Beach X31's give up the ghost........AND......... I "misplaced" the receipt so now I have to have the crummy XBox headphone on one side of my skull and the TV headphones attached to other side of Homer's head. Guess the credit that's left is kaputsky.

Now if I were a reanimated Zombie this problem would be moot because my squishy skull can't hold the damn things on. This reference of course leaves me open for the, "my face hurts " comment.

BioShock 2 tonight at midnight.

Need some web design advice.

I may have bit off a bit more than I can chew, but I have accepted a challenge to improve the way my office tracks some of our tasks.

I have set up a basic forum with MS Frontpage….at least I think I have it set up….thanks to a few bureaucratic hoops, I have to have it in perfect/tested/working condition before they submit it to be uploaded….the problem is that to fully test it, it has to be published, and to publish it I need a server (or virtual server) with Frontpage Server Extensions…. But I can’t even pay for a site and publish it on my own since the darn thing is being considered confidential….meaning I would need massive security unless I can have it only accessible from the office intranet.

I am actually pretty confident that what I built with the template works….except for two parts. First, I have a file uploader (well, 3 actually) built into the posting web that was not part of the template, it appears to be in good condition….the problem is I can’t tell if they will actually attach the files to the forum post without testing it, and please see the paragraph above this for the reason this wont’ work.
Second, I have no way of telling what the posts will look like and if the ability to comment on the posts is even there….it almost feels like I’m missing a page, but the template was very specific that I only would have 4 pages (Search page, posting page, Confirmation page (confirming that the page was uploaded), and the index where the posts would be listed in chronological order….)

Btw, I know this thing will turn into a monster, but I have been authorized to use (once the whole thing is approved) 500gb of server space, the Web development team from our IT dep., 2 automated backup servers (also 500gb each), and an archive server with as much space as needed.

And after a short meeting this morning, they want it to have a user login screen, an online guide as to how to use the site, an updatable news page to give updates on the status of the section as a whole…..hmm….the monster just became a Titan… and this Titan doesn’t like me very much.

So, any advice? (and I know “stop using Frontpage” will be one of them)

Call of Duty Crateness

Last night, I had the displeasure to experience, for the first time, the care package glitch. We were a bit short-handed; I think we were only 4 guys at the time. Despite my prestigeness, we were managing to hold the high ground on Favela OK. Then, the care packages started up. There were care package birds in the air non-stop for the last 5 minutes of the game, courtesy of no less than three douchebags on the enemy team. Despite their rampant douchebaggery, they managed to win by only a couple of kills. They wouldn't have, but they lucked out with an AC-130 that made short work of two of us unprotected by Cold-blooded. Most hilarious of all, when I commented that they could only win the game by cheating, one of the douchebags said, "Well, you guys were camping at the top of the hill." We muted, avoided, and filed complaints on all three of them. As a parting riposte, one of the cheaters said, "Go ahead and report us, that doesn't work on us." Hmmm. Judging by the number of suspended cheating douchebags posting on the Xbox Live Suspension forums, reporting a cheating douchebag does seem to work, mostly. Mostly.
We took a long break for pizza and some streaming South Park after that. We managed to have a good time in spite of the cheating. We won almost every game and eked out some tough matches by a few kills and lost a few close heartbreakers. Since I'm prestiged, I'm trying out a lot more weapons. The first time around, as soon as I found what I thought was my personal fave, I maxed out the class slots with it. This time, I'm spreading the wealth. I'm using the submachine guns a lot on medium-range maps. For the way we play as a group, an SMG is OK for Skidrow, Terminal, and Underpass. I'm even using the Vector, which actually, by real-life stats, should be the best SMG in the game, but suffers from having its balls cut off for balance reasons. On open maps like Wasteland, I'm using the default sniper class, which has Cold-blooded on it. I only got two sniper rifle kills with that, tho I did get some kills with the silenced USP at some impressive ranges. It was a good gaming night over all, and I managed to go from level 6 to level 14 in two short stints. On to the links:

  • Here's a conundrum: GameSpot has a link to a map pack with deformable skins for Kingpin: Life of Crime, an Id-engined game last seen before the turn of the century. On the GameSpot page for the map pack, there are no quick links for the game at all, since it dropped off the radar an eon ago. What we've got here is a) some editorial time warp; b) the world's most meticulous and dedicated mapper and the world's most idiotic editor;  or c) a joke. FWIW, I hated Kingpin. I stopped playing it before finishing the first level. I was put off by having to crowbar in the skull of some wife-beater wearing thug to steal his money.

Well well

Well things have changed. I am now out of the clan. Mostly because of a couple of people that was to damn lazy to start up their own clan so they bullyed me out of mine. But never mind that. I feel great. When i was free of everything there it was fun  to play again...not a job, but fun. But i have to laugh when i think about these guys. They were crying out all the time that they hate drama, and when everything comes down to it, they were the ones that was creating all the drama...hmmm... funny how things work

I Kissed a Girl...

And I Like I!

I went out on a date with Karen last night. Since we were both really broke but wanting to see each other we decided to stay in and watch Tyler Perry plays on DVD.  I was so nervous driving to her place to pick her up.  I was talking to myself like crazy.  I make it to her house and she comes out looking all fine.  We drive back to my place and she just keeps staring at me.  I have to say it was very un-nerving.  I'm just not used to so much attention.  She actually got me to open up about my life.  I've always had this wall around me so letting someone in is extremely difficult for me.  Difficult but a bit cathardic as well.  It's so nice to finally let things go.  I have been finding myself wanting to just tell her everything I've always been holding back from people.  It's weird.

So back to my date...

We made it back to my place and decided to watch some movies.  We were on the couch watching tv and lauging and talking about things.  I remember thinking that I really wanted to kiss her.  I was just too chicken to make the first move.  So at one point she asked me to take her braids down.  I had her sit on the floor between my legs and I started taking them down.  She had mentioned to me before that she likes having her hair played with.  So while I was taking down her hair I gave her a little scalp massage.  It really seemed to turn her on.  I won't go into all the details but it was really nice.  Right before I took her home she gave me the best kiss.  I've never kissed a woman before.  It was the best kiss that I have ever had.  I got another one when I dropped her off.

I am so excited about this.  Maybe that isn't the right word.  I am a jumble of emotions right now...all of them good.  I'm trying really hard not to ruin things.  I have a tendency to over think things and they end up all messed up.  I am just trying to take things as they come.  Not to analize anything.  Just enjoy my new life and the new person in my life.

I've got serious butterflies...

Looking for Mr. Goodflight

I used to spend a lot of time with this little flight sim back in the day. Even though the planes looked too much like plastic scale models, they were at least well done ones. The AI was a little wonky but the missions were decent and it had a Grand-Turismoesque flying school to get you started. But what I loved most about it was the free flight. You could simply take off from the runway, bank around and do touch-and-goes to your heart's content. It also featured a surprisingly deep replay editor.

But what I'm wondering is if there is anything remotely similar for the Xbox 360. Most flying games, like the Ace Combat series, have a rigid mission-based system with no chance to fly the aircraft outside it. There is zero chance for a threat-free environment to explore the limits of the aircraft or to simply enjoy flying. I'm curently struggling a bit, financially, so don't have the resources to try everything out there. But I could find a few bucks to add the right game to my shelf.
