I got another spine shot today. It was supposed to be a consultation with a PA, but the doctor was there so he just did it to save time, sweet .
The last one wore off a week and a half ago, so the pain was getting intense again. It will be a few days for this to start working but it is still a week or two ahead of schedule.
This is getting old quick. My winter is usually spent getting game time in, but it has only happened three or four times. I should have the surgery next month and will have some healing time, so it looks like I'll be gaming into the summer. I will be following the doctor’s instructions to the letter, so I won’t be able to do much more than that.
One bonus so far is that when I go to physical therapy after the operation the Doctor is going to add a weight loss program with it. So I'll get my back strengthened up and drop a few pounds at the same time.
I never thought anything would be able to replace COD/MW2 for my online shooter fix but Bad Company 2 has done it. The game is just so much fun. I had my doubts in the first 2 hours of playing it as I was not used to the player weight and movement and it threw me off. Also I generally didn't know what the fuck I was doing out there so my experience was not the best. I now have 14 hours in the MP and there is no looking back. The thing that impresses me the most is the scale of the battles and the fact that it actually pays to help your teammates out. MW2 is all about the kills and killstreaks. Even in the objective games that is the case and often it actually punishes the player who try to plant the bomb(Sabotage) because the other 11 players in the game are camping to get their killstreaks rolling. In Bad Company 2 there is no incentive to camp in a corner the whole game because you are gonna get absolutely no points for it. It rewards you to be in the action, killing people, reviving them, handing out ammo, etc. Some of my best games I have had a under 1.0 k/d but I get 10000 points(with a few awards) or something at the end due to me reviving people and destroying objectives. To me that is awesome. This game has a role for everyone. You don't need to have the best aim or be a killer to do good. If you play the right role you will be rewarded.
So to all the people out there frustrated with MW2 or people looking for a good team game, this is it. Don't let the demo or a few hours play time decide if the game is good or not. Give it a fair chance because at first it is going to feel wierd. BUT, once you get used to the controls, player movement and play style needed to play it you will find it is an extremely rewardind experience.
I'll install any lighting you may want, cut any shape, blah, but it will add time to getting your box back. Be patient, crappy art is still careful art!
As far as shipping, a sturdy box (dual wall cardboard) and foam cut to shape like the M$ coffin style would be best. Or wrap it COMPLETELY AND TIGHTLY in large-bubble bubblewrap.
A good rule of thumb is 4 inches of padding on every side. That will give it plenty of room if the monkeys shipping your box drop it. Or throw it. Just try to fill any open space in the box so that it does not rattle around.
NO SUMBITCHIN' STYROFOAM PEANUTS! ;) They crush and allow your box to get damaged, then they fill the already abused box with little static-filled dust particles that will short shit out. Ask me how I know that one!
Wrap the gamebox in a plastic/trash bag in case those same gorillas leave your shit sitting on the dock in the rain. Or in a puddle by my front door. (caught that guy, he got an earful!)
For faster return shipping, include a prepaid return shipping label inside the box!! That way I can schedule a pick up for it and we dont' wait on the wifey dear to "get around to" the Post office/shipping store. And then I've got to ask you for more money, blahblahblah.
I had one member send me her box priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance for $25 one way. As far as UPS or FEDEX, I don't know. Whatever makes you comfortable price wise. I would suggest $200 insurance- if the thing shows up demolished, I send in the complaint and you get a check to go buy a new Arcade edition 360. ;)
As far as payment, hold off on sending any money until I get it fixed. I can't in good faith take someone's money until I know I'm giving them a good product. That way there is no risk other than the cost of shipping. I'll let you know when it is done and we'll work out the details then. No biggie. You're trusting me with your box, I'll return the favor.

As of today Shakes and I have been married 10 years.
We met August 29th, 1999, were engaged November 19th, 1999, and Married March 11, 2000. (yeah, five months from meeting to married) He was a ripe old age of 22 and I was 19 lol I know that more than one person thought we were clueless and making a horrible decision. Ten years, nine moves, four kids, and many adventures later- We have wanted to beat each others heads in a few times, but he is still my Best Friend, and if I could choose anyone to spend time with, it would be him.
I finished Uncharted 2 on normal this weekend along with playing some multiplayer.
Spoilers!
I am glad the game didn't turn into a survival horror game. It did get weird at the end and you did have three scenes where you had to fight the monsters that I knew was coming. But it wasn't bad and those scenes were short. The uniqueness of each level is awesome. On one level you are trying to get to the engine of a train. On the way there you are fighting bad guys along with didging signs when you are on the outside of the train. The level where you you have to drop the three bladed to reveal the entrance to the map room is a great climbing around level.
My only complaint with Uncharted 2 is the puzzles were more simple than Uncharted 1. Everything, for the most part, was obvious what you had to do.
As for multiplayer I am going to give it another chance this weekend. 3rd person view multipalyer games just aren't my thing. However, why does everyone run adn gun when the game has an excellent cover system?
No gaming news, just have 10 minutes before I need to get on the train to the city for a job interview. A former co-worker of mine is an IT Manager at a company and he's leaving to go to another company. So he's talked me up to management and he's bringing me in for a meet and greet. Assuming i don't blow the interview, i'll probably be starting monday as a full time contractor to start and do some training for two weeks until my co-worker leaves, then his seat will be mine. Then i'll officially be the fill in IT Manager but hopefully since my foot is in the door already, i can convince them to bring me on full time and that would be killer.
Playing videogames all day was fun for a while but i'm really bored of it
GDC 2010 is on right now so when i get back from the interviews i'll do an updated blog with the latest news. Right now I see Windows Mobile 7 will be tied into Live and contain 200 gamerscore points worth of achievements just like XBLA games. I'm in the market for a new phone, might have to check out WinMo7 now with it's live integration and I'm hoping xbla games can also be run on WinMo7, that would really make me want to buy more xbla titles. I think xbla titles suit mobile gaming better than couch gaming for the most part and how sick would it be if it has xbox live integration for mobile multiplayer gaming? Sick.
